Francis Scott Key was a poet, attorney and patriot who penned the lyrics to “The Star-Spangled Banner” in 1812. It was originally entitled, “The Defense of Fort Henry.” By executive order, President Woodrow Wilson made the song the National Anthem in 1920. Key died on January 11, 1843.
