I'm reading: Meet ObitTweet this!  Share on Facebook
Death gives life its immediacy. Because we know it will end, we savor and value life all the more. Obit examines life through the lens of death. Whether it’s the loss of a person, a place, an object or an idea, life’s constant change presents an opportunity for examination, discussion and even celebration.

By examining the transformations we face, we can understand how the past influences our time and our future.
Obit aims to offer a forum for ideas and opinions about life, death, and transition that you will find nowhere else.

Obit-mag.com was launched on April 1, 2007, under the direction of Bob and Barbara Hillier. The Hilliers are part owners of Town Topics, a successful weekly newspaper that serves the Princeton, NJ community. They also own Princeton Magazine.

Obit’s 30 award-winning book authors and journalists, under the direction of Obit's editor-in-chief, Avery Rome, are affiliated with many national publications, including the Philadelphia Inquirer, Vanity Fair, National Public Radio, the Chicago Sun-Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle, among others. The Obit article, “By Any Other Name” was featured in the Best Creative Non-Fiction of 2008. Obit was honored by the Webbies in 2009 in the Best Copy/Writing category and Best Magazine category.

Obit marries its editorial with unique and beautiful imagery, and often creates conceptual photo montages to tell a story in their own right. Obit has commissioned work from some of the world’s best illustrators, artists who also appear in Esquire, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, TimeThe New Yorker, and GQ. Clemente Botelho recently received top recognition in 2008 for his Obit illustration, “Death Takes a Holiday,” from the Applied Arts Award Annual.

Greg Miller, Obit's Director of Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations, designs and executes the graphic elements of the site, designs and edits our daily e-blasts, and coordinates all promotions with our advertisers and marketing partners.

As Obit’s managing editor, Krishna Andavolu brings together the site’s daily content through masterful coordination and editorial contribution.

Obit has been recognized by major media, including thousands of Web mentions and links touting our content.
