Maybe what Robbie and his/her siblings should say to their mother, when she starts in with the RFTG, is "Well, you haven't given up the ghost yet, have you?" With a smile of course! In other words, make a light joke of it. And then simply ignore the rants the rest of the time; talk over them; pretend she hasn't said anything. She'll keep on spouting so long as they're listening -- after all, it is a cry for attention. But if they stop listening, she might -- MIGHT -- ease off. No guarantee of course, but at least they won't be listening.
